Experience life in the China as a GILA and GIDA foreign exchange student!

Each year, more than 1000 students from over 120 countries experience Chinese from a unique perspective. They participate in the Golden Int’l Dance Academy (GIDA) and Golden Int’l Language Academy (GILA) program, where they attend a厅 GILA and GIDA full time students and join a caring Chinese family.

 

GILA and GIDA students share their customs and cultures with their Chinese host families and new Chinese friends. In return, they receive a lifetime of treasured memories and friendships and gain a special understanding of the Chinese language and Chinese's cultural diversity.

 

 

· You live with a Chinese family and spend an exciting time with Chinese kid, teenagers, and

    adult in GIDA and GILA in the Beijing city of China.

· You experience the life of a Chinese the same as age.

· You become a member of a Chinese family (homestay).

· You improve your Chinese skills with help from GILA and GIDA and your Chinese family.

· By sharing everyday activities, you come to know what it is like to be a Chinese.

· Academic Years or short Chinese language training in China has made these experiences

    possible for over 10 years.

 

 

You will attend GIDA and GILA as full time students and will join homestay communities selected for the Academic Year in China program have schools of excellent academic quality that provide a valuable educational experience.

 

GIDA and GILA offer short period or long period Chinese language training or Academic Years an "interdisciplinary" approach to education, which means that students take a variety of courses in language, dance history, geography, literature and science. GIDA and GILA provide copies of your transcripts to your school before you arrive. When finished, you can receive an official transcript listing courses you took and the grades you received.

 

You will join our schedule of classes based on your educational objectives and considering courses you have already completed. Courses are offered at varying levels of proficiency. GIDA and GILA guidance counselor will help to ensure that you are placed at the proper level. You may not always be placed with students your own age in every class.

 

Academic Year in China students are expected to carry full course loads and participate in school as any Chinese student. Schools operate on various academic schedules, and course lengths may vary. Examples of some schedules are semester, block system, trimester and full year. With Academic Year in China, you visit China for an entire academic year (10 months) or a semester (five months).

 

 

GIDA and GILA monitor your program performance and quarterly grades. You are subject to the same academic and social rules as Chinese students in the academy. Teachers and guidance counselors are asked to contact your and host family immediately if problems arise.

 

To remain in good standing in the program, a student must enroll in an appropriate Chinese language or literature course and a Chinese Studies course, and maintain a "C" or better average in all classes.

Transcripts
Students must request transcripts before they leave the China. In some cases, GIDA and GILA may award you a certificate of attendance, or a diploma if you have completed all the necessary courses for graduation (and if they decide to accept courses you took in your home country school toward your diploma). The GIDA and GILA program can guarantee a certificated or diploma or graduation in which depend on you join GIDA and GILA program.

 

GIDA and GILA host families are volunteers. They are not paid for hosting GIDA and GILA foreign exchange students.

 

GIDA and GILA carefully select host families based on their desire to host a visiting student and ability to provide a safe, comfortable home and positive cultural experience for you in the China. People of all ages and from all walks of life volunteer to serve as host families. Your host family will expect you to join in family activities. They will expect you to share the privileges and responsibilities of being a family member. This includes doing your share of chores around the house.

 

Your host family will want to learn about your country and will want to help you understand life in China. They will be eager to answer your questions and explain things to you when you don't understand. Above all, they want to open their hearts and share their homes with you.

 

 

· Providing you with a home for the academic years or semester or short period.

· Welcoming you as a member of the family and encouraging you to participate in all aspect    

     of family life.

·  Providing you with your own bed and place to study, either in a room you share with a family

     member of the same sex and age range, or your own room

·  Providing you with meals (except lunch on GIDA and GILA days).

·  Encouraging the exchange of ideas and providing you with exposure to the cultural and social

     environment of the home and neighborhood.

·  Providing the love and understanding a young person needs to enjoy a successful stay in

     China.

 

 

Each GIDA and GILA student has a Coordinator who can answer questions or help solve a problem and be a friend. GIDA and GILA Coordinators may also arrange activities, trips and cultural events. GIDA and GILA Coordinators serve as community representatives for the academic years or semester or short period in Chinese program.

 

 

·      Screening, interviewing and selecting your host family.

·      Providing your host family with a pre-arrival orientation.

·      Liaising with the GIDA and GILA.

·      Supervising and supporting you and your family and visiting you monthly.

·      Submitting bi-monthly reports about your progress to GIDA and GILA office.

·      Providing emergency assistance to you and your family, should it ever be required.

 

GIDA and GILA Coordinators receive ongoing instruction and direction from the academic years or semester or short period in Chinese program and attend annual training sessions. Coordinators are but one part of the network of support GIDA and GILA students enjoy.

 

 

Simply, our standards are very high. We select participants carefully. Our Coordinators are well trained, and the expertise of our office spans more than 10 years. GIDA and GILA is the program of choice for those who want to enjoy the best possible international experience.

 

Coordinators live near you and are always there for you. They are available throughout the program year for advice and support. In addition, the GIDA and GILA office service available seven day of the week 356 days of the year.

 

The most important qualifications are an open mind and an interest in new experiences.

 

You will learn about Chinese culture firsthand. You will discover another way of looking at your world and the world at large. You will make life-long friends.
